The organizers of the 12th Annual Conference of the European Society of International Law (ESIL) are pleased to announce that already more than 350 participants have registered for the conference and 40 countries are represented. These include the USA, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Singapore, Japan, Egypt, and many more. This shows that the conference topic "How International Law Works in Times of Crisis" is a matter of global importance.

Comments Riga Graduate School of Law’s Professor Ineta Ziemele, who is also a Latvian Constitutional Court judge: “Preparations for the ESIL 2016 conference have entered the final stage. I am delighted to see that so many experts and international law professionals have decided to attend the conference and take part both in discussions and the events we have prepared in order to showcase Riga. Discussions will cover current issues important for the whole of Europe. An interesting cultural programme has also been prepared.”

The programme includes judges from international and European courts, in particular Judge James Crawford of the International Court of Justice, Judge Danute Jočiene of the Lithuanian Constitutional Court and Judge Egils Levits of the European Court of Justice, together with academics from leading universities. France’s Council of State Vice-President, Jean-Marc Sauvé, will deliver a keynote speech to mark the conference close.
